Extractions
Teeth may require extraction due to tooth decay, gum disease, infection and trauma. Extractions can either be simple or surgical. A simple extraction means the tooth is elevated and extracted. If the tooth has multiple roots or is broken down below the gum line a surgical extraction will be required. A surgical extraction requires a small incision and elevation of the gum tissue. The tooth is then sectioned and removed in segments. Sutures may be placed which will dissolve in about a week. Following the procedure you will be given post-operative instructions, a prescription for pain medication and possibly an antibiotic.
