Pre-prosthetic
People with multiple missing teeth, no teeth or prominent boney areas (tori) may require surgery to remove sharp areas or excess bone in preparation for denture construction. In most cases this can be accomplished with local anesthesia or intravenous sedation. In some cases the soft (gum) tissue may also need modification as well. Resorbable sutures will be placed which will usually dissolve in about a week. Pain medication is usually prescribed and possibly an antibiotic. In most case a soft diet will be required for optimal healing. Dr. Pandolfi will discuss the procedure in detail at your consultation appointment.
